RE-CONNECTING
RE-CONNECTING.
Dear Readers:
We are immersed in the ethos (and occasionally pathos) of networking, and in the building of relationships. The philosophical objective is to build our Relationship Capital Quotients (as would be said by my noble colleague and friend, Adam J. Kovitz), so that those around us would perceive us to be more valuable as Human assets, and to desire to work with us; to choose us. I believe that this is true.
I also believe that our ultimate goal, in terms of creating a Millenium of peace, international prosperity and reciprocal Humanitarianism, where we, as a species, can sociologically evolve, requires that we go one step further: we must strive toward 1) converting relationships into personal friendships, replete with compassion and a sense of soul-to-soul communion, and 2) maintining and fostering those friendships which have already graced our lives to the greatest extent possible.
Opening new doors is a primary function of our networking efforts -- but keeping old doors of love and friendship open is a sacred Human obligation, with many, many rewards.
My childhood and university friends are scattered throughout the country, and I have neglected to keep in contact with these people...people who have watched me grow, have borne witness to some of the most transformative (and embarrassing!) chapters of my life. Their feedback, through shared memories, hysterical stories and updates about the life passages of other acquaintances gives me more than just a wistful feeling of nostalgia - it reminds me of who I truly am, and gives me time-transcendant, broader perspective of myself. And I firmly believe that deep self-knowledge is essential to success.
Cliches abound - "Know thyself," "To thine own self be true," "The truth shall set you free." These cliches exist because thaey each contain a priceless element of truth.
Old friends present new wealth...buried treasure...fresh opportunities.
Until last evening I had kept my heart and my head buried in my consultancy activities (The Castle Consultancy, at http://aboutDouglasCastle.blogspot.com), my work for THE NATIONAL NETWORKER, at http://www.thenationalnetworker.com, my work for LINKS 4 LIFE, at http://Lifelinksiep.blogspot.com and Internal Energy Plus, at http://www/InternalEnergyPlus.com, all to the neglect of my friends.
After last evening's dinner reunion, I realized how much I had missed my beloved best friends. We lose our pasts, many opportunities and ourselves, when we neglect old treasured old relationships.
Old relationships open old doors, but amazing new ones, as well.
My heartfelt thanks to Jay and Stu, and for those people in my life who have chosen (for better or for worse) to call me friend. You are irreplaceable and precious beyond measure. You have helped to restore to me the gift of myself. Nobody else has the ability to do this.
Faithfully, and with renewed love and commitment,
Douglas
p.s. You guys can call me "Doug" anytime.

TNNW - We've Struck
TNNW - We've Struck Url! (Again) Our shrunken urls have been re-routing people to unusual destinations, and we humbly apologize. Our real urls have been horrifically obscured. In one instance, one of our shortened urls (which have never been popular at THE NATIONAL NETWORKER) was directing some readers to a pornographic site... I have, solely in the interest of quality control, clicked on that flawed link and have been routed to that site repeatedly. I am offended every time that I see it. Not only have we lost a tremendous amount of our prospective subscribers, but the operators of the lewd site have not even offered us a commission for all of the additional traffic which they’ve received through our good offices. These people clearly do not relate to the TNNW values of reciprocity and exponentiality. What a shame. Another one of our truncated urls was directing readers to a classifed NSA site (kidding, really). Join us -- why settle for mere contacts when you can have pre-qualified, proactive business relationships? BUZZWORKS. (Corrected url!) The National Networker (TNNW) is the 3.0 promotion machine for YOU. Learn more http://htxt.it/goWU Now, here is the news: Because of the sensory overload imposed upon us every single day by all of the promoters who are exploiting ever-evolving "social media," it is becoming increasingly important to make your message stand out...it must absolutely soar over and above the competitive cacaphony of other people's persistent noise. What would it be worth to you, as an individual, or to you, as a member of an organization, to stand out? To be noticed? To set yourself apart from anyone else. From this moment on, one of the greatest considerations for all entrepreneurs, professionals and organizational leadership will be the creation of a unique identity. Those few experts who will are able to make us stand out, to be different, to be heard -- those individuals will become increasingly valuable. Whether they call themselves "image consultants," "media consultants," or "marketing consultants," they will be increasingly in demand. Getting positive and profitable attention is becoming increasingly difficult. Expect this trend to continue, and begin aggressively exploring actions to take in order to keep your message, your brand and your identity from getting obscured. Don't get lost -- the objective is to GET FOUND. --Douglas Castle

INT'L NEWS
INT'L NEWS I will periodically be re-posting breaking international news headlines from both the Financial Times (FT) and the Associated Press (AP) to certain of my blogs and to a number of the Twitter accounts which I host or co-host. Most of the material which I routinely write reflects either my unique perspective regarding a variety of subjects, and may (on rare occasion), be humorous, I believe that there is so much happening in the world that I have an obligation to take brief departures from my usual content in order to provide readers with a convenient international news update. While much of what happens in the world is beyond the scope of our individual control, I firmly believe we can, as socially interactive Human Beings, be proactive. 1. We can keep each other informed of significant events and the trends which they imply so that we may prepare for their consequences...or, acting together in cooperation, actually change or reverse certain negative trends to re-shape the future; 2. We can choose how to respond to the things that are visited upon us (bank collapses, and the like) in the most constructive and productive matter. The way in which we react to events is every bit as important as the events themselves. If we wish to survive and thrive, we must have a constant flow of information to evaluate in terms of its implications for us and our plans. My most direct observations (many of which are tactless and irreverent) despite their intended sincerity can always be found at http://htxt.it/ZHxT , and I advise every single one of my friends and colleagues to get a free subscription to THE NATIONAL NETWORKER, and become a part of TNNW's business community, at http://htxt.it/nyjU . I do have an ulterior motive. Adam J. Kovitz, Founder of the publication and the company, has threatened to double the price (at the moment the publication is free), if we don't garner at least 100,000 subscribers. In addition, if I meet my personal goal of obtaining 100,00 subscribers for Adam, he has promised me a 15% commission on all subscription revenues. That fellow sure knows how to make a deal, eh? EXIM BANK UPDATES - YOUR OWN VIRTUAL EXPORT DEPARTMENT
Dear Friends:
The U.S. Government is doing its best (such as that is at this moment) to encourage export activity in order to: bolster domestic employment and entrepreneurial opportunities; supply trade and project financing, as well as international credit guarantees which are not readily being provided by U.S. or international banks and insurance companies; bring the Balance or Trade and the Balance of Payments to better levels; encourage investment by foreign countries in the United States; improve the international standing and reputation of the United States (ostensibly through citizen ambassadorship); and to increase direct funding to the entrepreneurial/ private sector to stimulate innovation and ingenuity.
While I have included two announcements from EXIM, the first of these contains a belated reminder to attend a webinar which has already taken place...In my opinion, these presentations are, generally, speaking, a waste of time. If you are established in exporting, you won't glean any useful knowledge here, and if you are an eager neophyte, the information is not put together in a way that is readily understandable, or, more importantly, applicable. The most important aspect of the letter is simply its tone. It is worth reading for that much alone.
YOUR OWN VIRTUAL EXPORT DEPARTMENT:
Every U.S. entrepreneurial enterprise or company wishing to expand globally on an immediate basis at minimal cost by creating a virtual export department (requiring no addional staffing or corporate infrastructure at all) should visit THE NATIONAL NETWORKER'S INTERNATIONAL AGENT/DISTRIBUTOR PROGRAMS site immediately. It can be accessed at http://TNNW7.blogspot.com .

Webinar: Competitive Financing for International Buyers (May 19)
Many U.S. businesses lose international sales because their buyers either cannot obtain financing, the interest rates are too high, or their foreign competitors have arranged loans. The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) assists U.S. companies by guaranteeing financing to creditworthy international buyers, both public and private sectors, for purchases of U.S. capital goods and services.
The guarantee for the commercial lender loans to foreign buyers covers 100 percent of principal and interest against both political and commercial risks of nonpayment. Medium-term guarantees (up to seven years) cover the sale of capital items such as trucks and construction equipment, and engineering services. There are flexible financing options and repayment terms and no limits on transaction size.
Buyer financing can make or break your next transaction so register now!Date: May 19, 2009 Time: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. EDT Price: $50 Register: https://emenuapps.ita.doc.gov/ePublic/newWebinarRegistration.jsp?SmartCode=9Q7Z >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

2. The following information is from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank). It is being sent to subscribers to the Bank's Country Limitation Schedule (CLS) email list for those interested in receiving information about changes and updates to the CLS.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The Country Limitation Schedule (CLS) issued by the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) has been updated. The new CLS is effective MAY 14, 2009.
The new CLS may be accessed on-line on MAY 14, 2009 at: http://www.exim.gov/tools/country/country_limits.cfm. The CLS and Cover Letter are also attached as PDF files.
The CLS indicates where Ex-Im Bank is "open for cover" and where Ex-Im Bank is "off-cover". The "open for cover" designation refers to the possibility, rather than the certainty of Ex-Im Bank support in particular cases. Where the CLS presents an X mark, Ex-Im Bank is "off-cover", and is therefore not willing to consider approval of routine transactions. These "off-cover" determinations are due to economic and/or political risks associated with the country.
For more information on the Ex-Im Bank, please visit our website at http://www.exim.gov.

-----------------------------------------------
If you are a U.S. -based business, this is a wonderful time to export. The U.S. Dollar is at a relatively low rate of exchange versus other currencies...EXIM is "loosening up" its credit parameters while U.S. and international banks are tightening theirs...and, your advantage over U.S. businesses who are not actively seeking out global markets is greater than it has ever been in U.S. history. This is an unprecedented opportunity to grow a global business while other enterprises are struggling to court U.S. consumers who are becoming increasingly inaccessible due to rising unemployment (and the accompanying insecurity regarding expenditure), and due to the continuing unavailability of consumer credit and business capital. The irony is that it is easier for a small U.S. company to get international trade and project financing than it is to get financing for continuation of domestic operations and growth.
It might serve you well to let your business follow the flow of money availability at this time.
Faithfully,
Douglas Castle, INTERNATIONALIST
