Dear Friends:

The most dangerous Human "default settings" are listed below (in no particular order):
  • HATRED -
  • BLAMING AND RECRIMINATION -
  • COMPLACENCY and INDOLENCE -
  • FAILURE TO FOCUS...one of the principal dangers of "multi-tasking" and preoccupation -
  • RUSHING TO USE FORCE WHEN WORDS OR NEGOTIATIONS SEEM TO BE FAILING US...reacting without reasoning or questioning.
As Human Beings, we are constantly being lured into circumstances that lead us into these hard-wired impulsive behaviors. They are very destructive, not only to those around us, but to ourselves. One challenge is to use reason before we act. Another challenge is to question the motives, integrity and influences of others when they inform, instruct, or try to pursuade us.

We need to re-learn and strengthen our reasoning, researching and questioning skills in order to avoid living in a state of "default" settings. Some very powerful people are amazingly good at understanding our "tripwires," our weaknesses, our insecurities and our fears -- and they use them, without compunction, compassion or hesitation in order to control us.

I conclude this brief reminder with this:

"The forces that unite us strengthen us. When we give in to those ill-intended few who seek to divide us, we give them the power to enslave us and to destroy our ideals, passions and ambitions." - Douglas Castle

Faithfully,

Douglas Castle
